Corrected: SUNY Canton Named to U.S. News & World Report's Best Colleges List

Canton, NY (09/14/2017) — SUNY Canton has once again earned a spot in the annual U.S. News & World Report's "Best Colleges" publication.

The college was ranked 25th in the "Regional Colleges-North" division. The 2018 list, released this week, is based on data such as graduation and retention rates, assessment of academic standing, faculty resources, student selectivity, financial resources, graduation rate performance, alumni giving, and other statistics.

"Our continued recognition by U.S. News & World Report reflects the efforts by our faculty, staff and administration to maintain our outstanding reputation," said SUNY Canton President Zvi Szafran. "As we continue to expand our degree offerings, such as our new four-year programs in Agribusiness Management and Game Design and Development, even more students will have the opportunity to take advantage of the applied learning environment that we're known for."

The list included colleges that focus on undergraduate education but grant fewer than 50 percent of their degrees in liberal arts disciplines. The Regional Colleges-North division comprises 12 states in the Northeastern United States.

In addition to the "Best Colleges" category, U.S. News also ranked SUNY Canton 12th on its "Top Public Schools" list. The college moved up one spot from last year's ranking.

"Each of SUNY's 64 colleges and universities help our students find their purpose and their passion. Whether it's in research, education, outreach or engagement, our colleges and universities strive to achieve excellence in everything they do," said SUNY Chancellor Kristina M. Johnson. "We are thrilled that so many of our SUNY campuses have again received favorable rankings by U.S. News & World Report. While we appreciate that rankings are one indication of quality, it does help demonstrate that SUNY is one of the best national education systems. Congratulations to each of the SUNY campuses recognized by the 2018 U.S. News & World Report rankings."
