SUNY Canton Announces Faculty and Staff Promotions

Canton, NY (09/04/2019) — SUNY Canton recognizes 30 employees who received promotions over the past year.

"SUNY Canton achieves its excellent reputation because of its phenomenal faculty and staff," said SUNY Canton President Zvi Szafran. "I join with all of the college's administration to recognize all of the talent and drive of the personnel who make this such a great place to learn and work."

The following individuals received promotions between Sept. 1, 2018 and Aug. 27, 2019:

  • Anthony A. Ange was promoted to Janitor for the college's Physical Plant.
  • Christopher T. Bradford was promoted to campus safety specialist in the Environmental, Health and Safety Office.
  • Elizabeth A. Brown, Ph.D., was promoted to professor in the School of Science, Health and Criminal Justice. Brown oversees the new Center for Criminal Justice, Intelligence and Cybersecurity and won the President's Meritorious Service Award in 2016.
  • Matthew J. Burnett was promoted to professor in the Canino School of Engineering Technology. Burnett teaches in the Graphic and Multimedia Design program.
  • Taylor N. Charles was promoted to Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) Counselor and Advisor. Charles previously worked in the college's Student Activities, Involvement and Leadership office.
  • Lucas Craig, Ph.D., was promoted to associate professor in the Canino School of Engineering Technology. Craig teaches Mechanical Engineering Technology.
  • Michelle Currier, Ph.D., was promoted to instructor in the School of Science Health and Criminal Justice. Currier teaches in the college's Criminal Justice and Criminal Investigation programs. She was recently recognized by the Open SUNY Center for Online Teaching Excellence for her contributions to distance learning.
  • Ryan Dean was promoted to janitor for the college's Physical Plant
  • Amanda L. Deckert was promoted to personnel associate in the college's Human Resources Office. Deckert is also the Title IX Coordinator.
  • Chad M. Delosh was promoted to assistant director in the Admissions Office.
  • Marela M. Fiacco was promoted to assistant professor in the School of Business and Liberal Arts. Fiacco is curriculum coordinator for the Healthcare Management program and director of the Business Department. She was also recognized by the Open SUNY Center for Online Teaching Excellence for her contributions to distance learning.
  • Alicia Flynn was promoted to senior staff assistant in the college's One Hop Shop Student Service Center.
  • Clifford Harvey was promoted to janitor for the Physical Plant.
  • John J. Jodice was promoted to full time help desk technician in the Information Services Department.
  • Kathryn Kennedy was promoted to assistant director of Career Services, part of the team housed in the Ready Center.
  • Tatsuhito Koya, Ph.D., was promoted to associate professor in the Canino School of Engineering Technology. Koya teaches in the Information Technology program.
  • Nicholas E. Ladd was promoted to lecturer in the School of Science Health and Criminal Justice. Ladd teaches in the Veterinary Science Technology program.
  • Patrick K. LaPierre, Ph.D., was promoted to professor in the School of Business and Liberal Arts. LaPierre teaches History.
  • Melissa E. Lee, Ph.D., was promoted to associate professor in the School of Business and Liberal Arts. Lee teaches English courses.
  • Christina Lesyk was promoted to assistant professor in the School of Business and Liberal Arts. Lesyk teaches in the Applied Psychology program and was recently elected as secretary to the board of directors of the New York State Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers.
  • Jiayuan Lin, Ph.D., was promoted to professor in the Canino School of Engineering Technology. Lin teaches Mathematics.
  • Kevin M. McAdoo was promoted to lecturer in the Canino School of Engineering Technology. McAdoo teaches Mathematics and has been involved with the Solar Ready Vets program.
  • Janet Parcell-Mitchell, D.P.T., was promoted to associate professor in the School of Science, Health and Criminal Justice. Parcell-Mitchell teaches in the Health and Fitness Promotion program. She is the medical provider, specializing in sports medicine and performance, for the U.S. Rhythmic Gymnastics Team and recently traveled to Russia with competitive athletes.
  • Jennifer L. Polniak was promoted to associate counselor in the Personal Counseling Center.
  • Frederick W. Saburro was promoted to lecturer in the Canino School of Engineering Technology. Saburro teaches Mathematics and received the SUNY Chancellor's Award for Adjunct Teaching in 2016.
  • Paul E. Todd was promoted to lecturer in the Canino School of Engineering Technology. Todd teaches in the HVAC program.
  • Jennifer Whittaker was promoted to senior assistant librarian in the Southworth Library Learning Commons.
  • Cori Wilhelm was promoted to library director in the Southworth Library Learning Commons.
  • Ali S. Zaidi, Ph.D., was promoted to professor in the School of Business and Liberal Arts. Zaidi teaches French and Spanish.
