SUNY Canton to Host Free 'Dig Safe' Community Training and Professional Recertifications in July and August

Canton, NY (07/01/2024) — SUNY Canton's Center for Workforce, Community and Industry Partnerships and UDig NY will host free in-person evening "Dig Safe" training to the community, as well as in-person excavator recertifications for professionals, throughout July and August.

The Dig Safe training is open to the public and designed for homeowners, construction personnel, businesses, landscapers and others interested in learning how to dig safe. Two sessions will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, July 22 and 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 26. in Nevaldine Hall Room 125 (South). Parking is available in Lot 10B. Sessions will be taught by Will Liddell from UDigNY, and participants will learn about the five steps to safe digging, as well as how to place a request by calling 811 or using UDig's Exatix online platform. In-person free recertifications for the Excavator in Safe Digging Best Practices will be offered to professionals from 4 to 5 p.m. Monday, July 22 and from 4 to 5 p.m. Monday, August 26 in Nevaldine Hall Room 125 (South).
