Samantha Smith of Mooers Forks Tabbed Corvias ECAC Upstate Rookie Runner of the Week

In her first week as a collegiate runner Samantha Smith (Mooers Forks) has been named the Corvias Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Upstate Women's Cross Country Rookie Runner of the Week, as announced by the conference on Wednesday evening.

Smith had a phenomenal performance as she was the first Roo to cross the line in her very first race for SUNY Canton. The freshman sprinted to a sixth place finish out of 44 runners covering the course in an average of 7:12 per mile. She was the only underclassmen to finish in the top 9 and eclipse the 23 minute mark.

The women's cross country team returns to the trails on Sunday when they take part in the Castleton State Invitational in Castleton, VT.
