SUNY Canton's Business Programs Receive Accreditation Candidacy

Canton, NY (05/26/2017) — The International Accreditation Council for Business Education (IACBE) board of commissioners has announced that SUNY Canton's business department has been selected as a candidate for accreditation.

The goal of accreditation is to ensure that the education provided by SUNY Canton maintains exceptional levels of quality as a premiere educational institution. Members of the college's faculty, staff and administration use accreditation as a way to measure the success of programs and evaluate the quality of each career-driven major.

"The accreditation review process will help our students receive the best education possible," said Professor Charles R. Fenner, who teaches in the business and management programs. "IACBE accreditation means that SUNY Canton business programs are producing career-ready graduates who can meet the challenges of a changing global marketplace."

Candidacy status means the department's programs have the eligibility necessary to undergo an accreditation review in the future.

"The college's business department includes six different majors that will be certified by the IACBE," said Jondavid S. DeLong, dean of the School of Business and Liberal Arts. "The quality of these programs will be integral to the continued growth of our college and will help us create a new generation of business leaders."

Graduates from the popular Bachelor of Business Administration in Management degree have gone on to work in manufacturing, retail and non-governmental organizational management positions. Last year, the college launched a program that allows business management graduates to complete an accelerated one-year Master of Business Administration degree at Clarkson University.
